Position: Designer. I designed and executed over sixty interactive Flash presentations for this sailing race website. Each "chronicle" was done in the space of a day; they integrated illustrations, mapping data, and the sailors' emails, photos, and video to give viewers a taste of the sailing experience.

Examples (when a screen stops, click on the hidden rollovers to proceed to the next screen -- requires Flash Plug-in):

"Looking Outside" -- J.P. Mouligne weighs the relative importance of information and intuition in a sailing race.

"Yazykov's Self-Surgery" -- Viktor Yazykov must perform surgery on his own elbow, which has developed a painful abscess, based on instructions emailed to him from the race doctor (caution: this is somewhat gruesome). Part 1 Part 2

"Zephyr" -- Neil Hunter uses several days of slight wind as an opportunity to do some bird-watching.

Position: Lead Designer. This website followed the progress of three climbers as they made a first ascent of a peak in the Himalayas. Duties included design of information architecture, editorial review of assets sent by climbers to shape the daily story, management of design team, and production of interactive presentations which integrated the climbers' emails, voicemails, and pictures. This was Quokka's most visible website at the time they released their IPO.

This website is no longer online; I'll make portions of it available here in the future. In the meantime, I can provide a copy of the site burned to CD if you contact me.

Position: Designer. The Dogtown Group, a design and presentation graphics firm I've worked for as a freelancer for the past several years, wanted a redesign of their website, created entirely in Flash. I used Flash's scaling ability, in conjunction with frames, to create a site that looked "worked," compositionally, no matter how far you stretched the dimensions of the browser (yes, it is possible to stretch the website out of shape, but you really have to work at it).
